Leading US law firm is looking for an interim Business Development Manager (Client Development Manager) on an initial 6-month FTC with a particular focus on the Financial Services Group’s German clients resulting in our client requiring fluent German & English speakers.  This role is paying to £70,000 and the firm offers a very flexible remote working pattern.


Duties will include:


– Assist with planning and implementation of marketing and business development activities, providing hands-on delivery and support as well as strategic advice.

– Drive development of marketing plans for the group Germany and Luxembourg, reporting monthly on achievements and objectives.

– Lead business development activities for FSG in Germany and Luxembourg to achieve profitable revenue, including:

– Developing tailored proposals or pitches to specific clients, prospects, industries and sectors, and overseeing related production and tracking of pitch efforts.

– Developing and maintaining compelling content for use in marketing and BD initiatives, including capability statements, practice group overviews, credentials presentations, lawyer biographies, team sheets and experience lists.

– Supporting strategic client development activities and the strategic client programme.

– Identifying and agreeing on key targets and supporting partners to pro-actively pursue these in a systematic way, ensuring efforts are coordinated across the Firm.

– Tracking and analysing market trends and identifying new business opportunities with existing and prospective clients.

– Coordinating research to underpin marketing and business development initiatives.

– Working with partners to maximise sources of referrals, such as the internal network.

– Ensure the adoption of marketing and business development systems and processes, the firm’s CRM system, our business development tracking system, and our experience database, often in liaison with secretaries.

– Actively work to raise the profile of the firm and its partners across the group, with a particular focus on Germany and Luxembourg, including in the areas of PR, social media, thought leadership, legal directories, events and industry conferences, in collaboration with the firm’s PR, Communications and Events teams.

– Support the client development aspects on-boarding and integration of new lateral partners.

– Assist to manage the relevant marketing budget and track return on investment.

– Help to identify cross practice group synergies.

– Help the German and Luxembourg groups to fully leverage the Firm’s network and resources.


Key skills

– Fluency in written and spoken German and English.

– Understanding of the needs and expectations of fee earners and clients.

– Proven ability to communicate successfully, both within the Firm and with external contacts.

– Demonstrated problem solving, organisational and project management skills.

– Detail-oriented and the proven ability to prioritise multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

– Ability to work well in a team and on own initiative.

– Proficient with Microsoft Office. Experience using InterAction CRM would be beneficial.
