Client Billing Specialist

A top US law firm is looking to hire a new Client Billing Specialist to join the London office on a permanent basis.  This role will be to work remotely, with the view of moving towards a 2/3 day home/office split.  A salary of up to £40,000 is on offer plus fantastic benefits.


Duties include:

  • Produce through Elite ELBS drafts, bills & credit Notes in compliance with procedures, in conjunction with the billing Timekeepers.
  • Produce and manage pro-forma production for monthly and transactional billing – primarily for the London Office
  • Provide help desk support for fee-earners/secretaries in the creation of bills.
  • Chasing monthly bills with appropriate Partners
  • Monitoring bill production with strict compliance with the firms procedures, ensuring that all Alternative Fee Arrangements are adhered to and correctly identified on Elite, and where necessary to consult with the Director of Administration and/or Financial Accounting Manager.
  • Distribute finalised bills to appropriate departments and maintain the bill filing within the accounts department.
  • Produce missing/pending time reports and process instructions received.
  • Control and reconcile anticipated time and disbursement records.
  • Develop processes and workflows to enhance the services of billing.
  • Provide training and support to other members of the firm on billing, paperless pro-forma and e-billing.
  • Daily interface with the Credit Department to ensure processing of all receipts on daily bank statement.
  • Regular discussions with AML team to ensure compliance
  • Assisting Client Cashier in day to day transactions where necessary.
  • Monitor time entry compliance with firmwide protocols ensuring all time keepers are compliant.
  • Monitoring old matters for unbillable balances and closure
  • From time to time dealing with other adhoc finance related tasks assigned by line managers and/or partners


Candidates need to have previous Legal Billing experience, in addition to experience using Elite – candidates must have excellent written, organizational and communication skills and previous knowledge of SRA rules and VAT.
