Leading London law firm has created a new position of Compliance Manager, this is manage the department as well as overseeing two members of staff, reporting to the Compliance and Corporate Partner. This role is a full-time hybrid position of 3 days in the office and 2 days remotely. This role is suitable for both applicants currently working at Manager level or looking to undertake the step-up to a Manager position. Salary is flexible, dependent upon experience paying between £50,000 to £64,000.
Compliance Manager Responsibilities:
• Acting as the interface between the COLP/MLRO, Management Partner and the business
• Direct line management of the Compliance Analysts and Administrators in the team
• Allocating work within the team to ensure that the CDD process and screening for PEPs, Sanctions, Adverse Media etc is conducted efficiently
• Checking all CDDs conducted by the team and approving on the system for time recording
• Providing training and support to the team, fee-earners and business service staff
• Undertaking appraisals for the team
• Managing all internal Compliance systems and e-verification tools
• Responding and dealing with escalated and high-risk queries from the team and escalating to senior management where appropriate
• Keeping up to date with all sanction regime updates
• Reviewing and assisting with client risk assessments and the firm wide risk assessment
• Reviewing and assisting with complicated client and beneficial owner identification
• Administering ongoing monitoring and enhanced due diligence procedures
• Working with the CLOP/MLRO, COO and Management Partner to help build a centralised risk function
Compliance Manager Criteria:
• A minimum of 4 years’ experience in a compliance role within a law firm
• Exposure to risk assessment is essential
• Ability to use own initiative, considering the needs of our clients, partners, and other stakeholders around the firm
• Professional approach and ability to manage own workload
• Confidence to respond and deal with general compliance queries from colleagues around the firm
• Strong attention to detail and an ability to handle confidential information in a professional and discreet manner
• Analytical thinker, with good communication skills and ability to articulate reasoning and arguments clearly and succinctly
• Ability and confidence to manage compliance team
