Finance Operations Assistant – US Law Firm

This highly regarded US law firm based in the City of London wish to hire an Financial Operations Assistant to support their busy London Finance department in offices close to St Pauls. The firm offers an agile working pattern of 3 days in the office and 2 days working remotely, whilst offering a salary of £30,000 – £35,000 as well as outstanding benefits package with standard hours being 9:30am to 5:30pm.


The Financial Operations Assistant will report into the Finance Supervisor, whilst working in a small team, you will take charge on all transactional accounting functions, providing a comprehensive and efficient service to partners and business support functions. Duties include;


  • Posting international office accounts payable invoices on to the system in a timely manner, ensuring that they are coded and authorised correctly
  • Preparing BACS supplier payment runs and priority payments as required
  • Assisting with the daily monitoring of international office bank account balances to ensure funds are available when needed and corresponding directly with the bank about general queries
  • Processing invoices on a regular basis to help with the upkeep of departmental budgets
  • Assisting with the set-up, maintenance and archiving of filed records of invoices and VAT receipts, ensuring copies can be retrieved easily
  • Assisting with bank account reconciliations for EMEA, liaising with office managers and finance colleagues across EMEA to resolve queries
  • Posting credit and vendor payments to the system, managing payment runs and scanning backup documentation for EMEA offices
  • Assisting with Client Account audits where necessary


Candidates will currently be operating as an Accounts Payable Assistant within a law firm, preferably International, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience. You will have a strong knowledge of legal accounting software such as Elite, Aderant, and Chrome River, as well as a sound understanding of UK VAT legislation. A confident and flexible communicator with a patient attitude towards working practices and processes with team members, wider staff is essential.
