Hugely successful London law firm is looking to recruit a qualified Financial Controller on a 12-month FTC to join their busy finance department.


This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified Accountant to work with individual practice areas, including Partners, Finance Director and other Heads of Business Services to ensure that financial information is understood and appropriately communicated. You will be responsible for providing insight and analytics to aid the commercial decision-making process, pricing, budgeting, forecasting and strategic contract decision-making support.


This role will be to work both in the office and from home on 2-day, 3 day split and is offering a salary of up to £88,000 for the right candidate. Standard hours are 9.30am – 5.30pm, however a flexible attitude is required.  This is an initial 12-month FTC however could potentially go on beyond this length.


The Financial Controller will be responsible for;


  • Provide input and ad hoc support as required in terms of cost, margin and profitability analysis
  • Assist with year end audit, particularly on WIP valuation side
  • Responsibility for consultant commission and fee sharing calculations on monthly, quarterly and annual basis as necessary
  • Preparation of firmwide presentations on financial performance
  • Preparation and delivery of fee earner training and updates on financial matters
  • Support with strategic and operational projects in the Finance team as well as in individual practice areas
  • Key Finance responsible person for secondments processes.


This Financial Controller position will suit a qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) with a strong finance background working for international law firms, preferably using Aderant software and having a knowledge od e-billing platforms. You will possess;


  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence stakeholder decisions
  • Prior experience of Management Accounts and KPIs
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present data in an easy to understand format
  • Attention to detail and ability to investigate and problem solve to resolve issues
  • Good time management skills and ability to work under pressure to last minute deadlines
  • Motivated and able to act at speed and high degree of accuracy of analysis
