HR Specialist (FTC) – Top US Law Firm – Hybrid Working

The focus of this role will be to assist the Associate Director of HR in providing operational and strategic generalist HR Support to the London Office on an initial 18 Month FTC. The role will work in partnership with Managers and Partners to provide professional, customer focused HR advice and solutions that support and build organisational and people capabilities and an excellent working environment for staff.


Duties will consist of a full generalist remit including but not limited to:

  • Keeping abreast of any developments in employment law and best practice to and ensure that Office employment policies and procedures are updated to reflect any changes in legislation. To communicate any changes to the business.
  • Providing guidance on the interpretation of HR policy to senior managers and partners in conjunction with UK employment law. To assist with communicating and reinforcing various legal personnel policies, such as diary compliance, vacation tracking, processing and approval of related T & E, and compliance.
  • Playing a key role in ensuring that there is effective communication in place within the Office to promote open working relationships and to support the overall collegial culture of the Office.
  • Supporting with all performance management processes.
  • Leading on complex case management (including sickness absence and performance issues, disciplinaries and grievances)



  • Managing workforce planning and the end to end recruitment processes
  • Managing onboarding for new hires (mainly Business Services)
  • Manage agency relationships
  • Review and maintain the different recruitment tools used by the firm


Compensation and Benefits:

  • Reviewing the firms compensation and benefits strategy
  • Keeping abreast of market trends in remuneration, particularly in law Offices.
  • Maintaining appropriate networks, in order to have a good understanding of what is happening in the market.
  • Assisting with the annual salary review process for business services staff.
  • Keeping abreast of all pension legislation and ensure the Office has appropriate pension arrangements in place to reflect this.



  • Liaising with managers and partners and assess feedback from performance reviews to identify skills gaps throughout the business and work with learning and development to address this.
  • Ensuring that business services staff have a performance appraisal annually.
  • Assisting with a programme of general interest sessions for all staff (e.g. covering wellbeing, financial awareness, personal safety etc.). This programme is primarily an HR responsibility, but should be done in collaboration with Legal Personnel.



  • Rolling out training in support of any equality, diversity and inclusion policies and procedures where necessary.
  • Promoting equality, diversity and inclusion within the Office.
  • Assisting the Associate Director – HR in carrying out annual monitoring and diversity audits not only for current employees, but in recruitment for prospective employees, so that the racial profile of the firm can be measured effectively.


Core working hours for this role are 9:30am – 5:30pm with a flexible attitude around the needs of the business. Salary for this role is up to £50,000, an initial 18 month fixed-term contract.  Law firm experience beneficial however not essential and hybrid working of 3 days in the office per week.
