Legal Cashier @ Leading US Law Firm (14 Month FTC)

Leading US law firm is looking to hire a new Legal Cashier, on an initial 14-month Fixed Term Contract basis. This hire will play a key role in the smooth and efficient running of the accounts payable and client cashiering team and will report in to the European Finance Manager.  Duties will include being responsible all Client Cashiers duties, all client account transactions including, inter office transfers, interest calculations, receipts, payments etc. adhering to Law Society Rules, AML knowledge, monthly client account bank reconciliations, dealing with residue client balances and reporting to the US’ Head Office, liaising with Partners in regards to authorising payments, taking ownership of all cash receipt duties for the London office – including payment of our invoices, refunds from/to clients and quarterly interest receipts and the allocation of cash for our invoices within the correct time frame that adheres to the SAR rules, completing the remittance with information required, entering on the Wires spreadsheet and recording in Elite.  Additionally this role will be responsible for supplier payments for London, including matter chargeable invoices such as expert fees, all counsel fees, checking of rolling fee notes, liaising with clerks, obtaining vat receipts and processing the vat reclamation for these on to Elite each month, processing invoices through Chrome River for suppliers, foreign lawyer fees and bank charges, checking client/matter numbers, general ledger coding, vendor numbers and vat allocation.  Ensure all payment requests are correctly authorised, ensure all invoices have sufficient backup for payment, arrange for cheques to be authorised (in line with bank mandates), ensure supplier statements balance with payment of invoices, investigate any differences, telephone liaison with suppliers re invoice and statement queries, recognition of valid VAT invoices, the processing of anticipated disbursements from entering to payment, and ensuring prebills are paid in line with SAR rules, process Employee re-imbursements via Chrome River.  Applicants require a minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a Client Cashier in a London law firm, good GCSE results, Preferably grade ‘B’ and above in Maths, proven and solid experience of working within an Accounts Payable function, strong IT skills including good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, strong knowledge of SRA Rules and VAT regulations and be fully proficient in the use of Elite.  This role will be working from home/remotely for the time-being with standard hours being 9:30am to 5:30pm.  Should this role move back to office working this firm is housed in stunning City offices very near Fenchurch Street and Liverpool Street stations but walking distance from both Cannon Street and London Bridge.
