Legal Financial Accountant

Leading US law firm is looking to hire a new Financial Accountant on an initial 12-month FTC to be responsible for the statutory LLP financials, corporate tax returns, VAT reporting and compliance, payroll, client account, Partner payments and SRA and statutory audit functions.


Key duties and responsibilities for this new Financial Accountant:


  • Preparation and oversight of thhe accounts, working between cash and accrual accounting, liaising with professional advisors as required.
  • Accountability for controlling and annually reconciling balance sheet and profit & loss accounts.
  • Management of tax computations.
  • Managing the preparation and submission of the VAT returns.
  • Joint responsibility for all office payments including client account transactions.


Person Specification for this new Financial Accountant:


  • Educated to ACA/ACCA qualified level
  • Possess an undergratuate degree
  • Proven in-depth and up to date technical knowledge of financial accounting legislation • Recent experience of preparation of financial statements under UK Gaap • Experience within professional services • A team player who is well organised, has an excellent attention to detail and recognises the importance of completing work to a high standard • Ability to be adaptable and flexible to deal with changing requirements and timescales, and keen to take on responsibility • Highly proficient in Excel, with excellent analytical and reconciliation skills • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Project management skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple deadlines • High level of confidentiality working in a professional environment • Awareness of Solicitors Accounts Rules would be of benefit • Experience with payroll would be advantageous


This Financial Accountant role is at one of the top US law firms in the world and although ideally looking for previous legal experience this is also an ideal opportunity for someone with alternative professional services background to start their career within legal.  Standard hours are 9:30am to 5:30pm with a salary to £80,000.
