Practice Development Manager

A prestigious US law firm based in the heart of the city is looking to hire a new Practice Manager to specifically support four practice groups in the London and European offices managing the operational aspects of business units, working directly with the Partners and Heads of Departments.  The role offers agile working and a salary of up to £100,000 with flexibility.  This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified lawyer either currently practicing or working within a Practice Development / Knowledge management space.

 

Responsibilities will include generating substantive agendas for regular BU or Legal Practice Area (“LPA”) practice meetings; oversee the execution of meeting logistics; participate in meetings as an information resource and discussion facilitator, maintaining and updating action item lists for Business Unit and LPA growth initiatives, supporting  UK/European Partners in drafting annual BU and LPA plans and priorities in concert with the BU Managing Directors/Directors, reviewing recurring financial and delinquent time entry reports; identify any issues/follow-up action items for discussion with relevant Partners, working directly with new lateral attorneys and their secretaries and HR to ensure seamless integration, working with BU practice management teams and local partner leaders to organise employee engagement BU or LPA social activities that enhance group cohesion and firm values, serving  as liaison to the recruitment team to help customise communications to optimise attorney efforts and maximise results related to associate recruitment, collaborating with the UK/European HR and Finance teams to track and raise issues with UK/European associate utilisation and associate time-submission with relevant BU Managing Directors/Directors and organising relevant practice training events for associates, in collaboration with the Learning & Professional Development and Knowledge Management groups.

 

The successful Practice Development Manager would ideally be a qualified lawyer with experience being a Corporate Associate within a top law firm, ideally someone who has several years experience within a law firm including some operational management experience.  The role is offering a huge amount of autonomy and flexibility and an excellent salary and benefits is on offer.
