Professional Development / L&D Advisor 12 Month FTC – Top US Law Firm – Hybrid Working

A top US Law Firm in London is looking to hire a new Professional Development / L&D Advisor on an initial 12 month FTC, with the view of becoming Partner.  Within this role you will liaise with Partners and Lawyers across practice groups to design, implement and deliver Associate skills curriculum for Associates and Trainees.  A salary of up to £50,000 is on offer plus the firm offers agile working, 3 days in the office, 2 from home.

Responsibilities for the Professional Development Advisor will include:


  • Supporting and coordinating the delivery of legal and professional development training for London Partners, Counsel, Associates and Trainees to address their respective learning and development needs.
  • Conducting, together with the human resources staff, the lawyering orientation process for new Trainees, Associates and Counsel
  • Coordinating and supporting the evaluation process for London trainees, Associates and Counsel, including supervising the collection of evaluations, interviewing partners to collect evaluations, organizing review materials for discussion of Partners responsible for reviews, participating in discussions of associate performance, drafting career development messages, rankings and other performance messages, monitoring to ensure that performance messages are delivered, and participating in Evaluation Committee meetings
  • Coordinating trainee programs, including assisting in the seat placement of trainees, the collection of evaluations and placement upon admission, working with the office’s trainee principal and human resources staff
  • Supporting the Associate reviews process in the firm’s Asian and European offices, as well as lawyer training across the firm’s European offices
  • Providing career counselling and guidance for Associates and Counsel on professional development and practice issues
  • Coordinating and support departure logistics and exit interviews for Associates and Counsel leaving the firm

Candidates must have previous Professional Development / Learning & Development experience within a professional services organisation, preferably a law firm, in addition to excellent written, communication and organisational skills and the ability to take the lead on projects.  Standard hours are 9.30am – 5.30pm with a salary of up to £50,000 on offer
