Our client is a prestigious London law firm – they are now looking to recruit an experienced Risk & Compliance Officer to join their team in the City of London.
The role is to provide practice support to their offices on high-risk shipping transactional matters and the related know your client (KYC) requirements for these specifically, and on aspects of risk, regulatory compliance and conflicts more generally.
The standard hours are 9.30am to 5.30pm. The salary on offer is up to £45,000 (dependent upon experience) + benefits. This role is a permanent position, and the client are currently using a hybrid working approach – 3 days working in the office, 2 days from home.

Your responsibilities as a Risk & Compliance Officer:
• Assisting the transactional shipping completion services teams in reviewing and analysing the due diligence documents
• Assisting with KYC, AML and sanctions searches on clients in other matters
• Assisting the Risk & Compliance team in general daily tasks
• Assisting in opening new matters
• Auditing files to check compliance with firm policy, legal and regulatory requirements
• Assisting the Revenue & Collections team as necessary
• Providing internal training to the team and wider firm on KYC and AML
• Undertaking research and other projects as needed
Requirements as a Risk & Compliance Officer:
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a compliance function within a law firm ideally
• Experience conducting KYC checks
• Bachelor of Laws or equivalent degree desirable, with some legal work experience preferred
• Demonstrated ability to work within a framework of regulatory compliance
• Excellent communication skills
• The capability, after training if necessary, to identify conflicts and risk within a law firm
