Our fantastic national law firm client is currently looking to hire a Practice Support Managers to join them on a permanent basis, this role will be based in their Birmingham office with the roles currently being worked remotely however going forward the incumbents will either be based in Birmingham or be able to commute to Birmingham on a regular (not daily) basis.  The purpose of this role will be to ensure the legal support team (consisting of 100+ staff, including Personal Assistants, Secretaries and Team Assistants) meets the demands of the firm and its clients, due to this, a big focus of the role will be people and stakeholder management and this hire will also be involved in strategic and operational aspects of the firms legal support service reporting directly into the Head of Legal Support. Main duties will include managing individual performance of allocated support resources including regular progress meetings, as well as annual appraisals, probation reviews in line with the competency framework, and objective setting, ensuring the smooth induction of new starters, transfers and maternity returns to the department, ensuring awareness and understanding of HR, department and client specific policies, procedures and information, acting as a coach to develop the team to the highest standards, identify appropriate training to support induction and personal development through feedback, performance management and continued assessment of training needs, providing pastoral care and active management of wellbeing for the legal support team and managing legal support teams with a focus on service delivery and excellence.  Applicants must have previous experience of managing, supervising or team leading business services staff and/or secretaries in a legal or professional services environment with excellent written and verbal communication skills with an understanding of how to get your team to execute a superior delivery service.  Additionally, candidates need to be highly proficient with their technical MS skills. Core hours for this role are 9.00am – 5.00pm which are flexible and this role is paying up to £32,000.
