Head of Finance (Hertfordshire)

Specialist law firm renowned for its professional service across a wide range of commercial, private and public sector clients is recruiting for a new Head of Finance.

The role requires a qualified accountant with significant leadership experience within a law firm, together with a strong understanding of legal finance, partnership accounting and the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR). Reporting into the Managing Partner, the Head of Finance will oversee an Accounts team of 3 whilst working with the firm’s outsourced accountants. There will be a strong focus on revamping the finance structure, improving processes, and project management.

Head of Finance – What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Oversee transactional and financial accounting, ensuring robust controls are in place
  • Manage all banking functions, including cash reporting, forecasting and reconciliations
  • Lead the year-end accounting, audit and statutory reporting processes
  • Oversee all tax compliance, including VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax and Partners’ Tax
  • Prepare clear financial reports and recommendations for Partners’ meetings
  • Attend monthly management accounts meetings, working with the Managing Partner to ensure key financial information is shared with Equity Partners

Head of Finance – What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
  • A key influencer who is able to deliver finance leadership within a law firms and challenging key stakeholders
  • Successful track record of managing legal accounts teams
  • Strong and confident knowledge of legal compliance procedures in line with the SRA, current COFA experience preferred
  • Ability to interpret budget, accounting and fiscal procedures, policies and regulations
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of accounting, budgeting and auditing principles and procedures
