HR Assistant
Our US law firm client is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic HR Assistant to join their London Human Resources team.
This role is ideal for someone at an early stage in their HR or professional services career who is keen to develop practical HR experience within a structured, supportive team. You will receive exposure to a broad range of HR activities across the employee lifecycle, working closely with the London HR team and liaising with central HR colleagues in New York.
• Salary to £36,000

• 09:30-17:30 (Monday-Friday)
• Hybrid working (4 days in the office / 1 day remote working)
Key Responsibilities of the HR Assistant:
• Coordinate end-to-end onboarding for all new hires, including background and conflict checks
• Preparation of new-joiner documentation for New York HR, and organising induction programmes and welcome materials
• Manage offboarding processes, including drafting departure communications, calculating holiday entitlement, coordinating exit interviews, monitoring IT reports, and handling personal email requests where required
• Track probation periods, prepare mid and end probation documentation, and liaise with Benefits as appropriate
• Conduct right-to-work checks and maintain accurate immigration records and tracking spreadsheets
• Maintain electronic HR files and employee records in compliance with GDPR and Firm policies
• Respond to day-to-day HR queries and liaise with central HR teams in New York, including Payroll and Benefits
• Support the processing of employee changes such as hires, departures, leaves of absence, compensation updates, and secondments
• Process HR-related invoices and maintain accurate payment records
• Update and monitor training trackers to ensure compliance with mandatory training
• requirements, escalating issues to the London COLP where necessary
• Coordinate employment verification requests with New York HR
• Provide general administrative support on HR projects and initiatives as required
Skills & Requirements of the HR Assistant:
• Previous administrative or HR experience within a law firm or professional services environment preferred
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to prioritise effectively and adapt quickly in a high-pressure, fast-moving environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence interacting at all levels of the firm
• Strong sense of discretion and confidentiality
• Proactive, dependable, and able to work both independently and collaboratively
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook; working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
