Tax Manager

This full-service international law firm based near St Paul’s is seeking an experienced and CTA qualified Tax Manager to join their Finance team. Reporting into the Head of Finance, the Tax Manager will be responsible leading on compliance, reporting and governance while delivering commercially focused tax advice and playing a key role in shaping a proactive, high-performing finance team.

Key Responsibilities of the Tax Manager:

  • Lead preparation and review of UK partnership, partner, and corporate tax returns, including oversight of international filings and UK tax recoverability
  • Manage year-end tax reporting, including current and deferred tax calculations
  • Oversee VAT compliance and employment taxes (including PSA, benefits-in-kind, PAYE/NIC and IR35)
  • Provide day-to-day tax guidance to HR, Finance and Payroll teams
  • Monitor UK tax legislation, assessing impact and enhancing tax processes, controls, and governance
  • Act as a subject matter expert, advising on tax implications across business activities and transactions
  • Support HMRC enquiries, ensuring timely and appropriate responses

Skills & Requirements of the Tax Manager:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a UK mixed tax environment, ideally within a law firm
  • CTA qualified with strong UK Tax technical knowledge
  • Strong understanding of UK partnership tax, VAT, and employment taxes
  • Understanding of international tax jurisdictions
  • Experience working with IRIS and strong Excel capability
  • Exposure to tax governance frameworks (e.g. SAO, CCO) highly advantageous
