Expanding US law firm is looking to hire a new Conflicts Analyst to join their growing London based Conflicts team.  This role will report to the Conflicts Director based in the States and work with the London based Conflicts team.  This is an opportunity where the firm is looking to invest in this hire, offer them a career with no ceiling to this new position.

 

Conflicts Analyst duties will include:

  • Independently conduct thorough and accurate research of corporations, agencies and individuals listed as incoming parties to client/matters, or submitted with preliminary conflicts checks;
  • Analyse and evaluate both the reference source research results and conflicts reports to determine whether conflicts-of-interest may exist with incoming parties;
  • Independently inform attorneys and administrative staff as to whether potential or actual conflicts exist and propose the necessary steps to resolve; Consult with management on complex conflicts issues potentially requiring the further direction of the Professional Responsibility Committee or the Office of General Counsel;
  • Update the corporate hierarchies or “family trees” in the Firm’s conflicts database and billing database;
  • Conduct pro-active research of mergers, acquisitions and potential bankruptcies using various business reference sources and record findings in the conflicts database;
  • Analyse ‘thrust-upon” conflicts issues and propose resolutions to attorneys in consultation with the Professional Responsibility Committee or the Office of General Counsel;
  • Research and process requests including close, reopen, client, matter, and mailing/contact change requests;
  • Handle additional Conflicts research and analysis projects as assigned.

 

Conflicts Analyst requirements:

  • Advanced ability to organise, prioritise, coordinate, and work as part of a team and able to identify and escalate issues as appropriate and present them clearly and succinctly with proposed solutions;
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills with advanced proficiency in rules of English grammar, spelling and punctuation, with excellent attention to detail;
  • Experience using various databases such as Intapp’s suite of products;
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Word, and document editing/comparison applications, MS Outlook and web-based conference call/web-sharing applications;
  • Excellent written and oral communications required with strong ability meet deadlines and provide results while supporting and enforcing Firm policy and procedures and an ability to interact with people at all levels in a polite and constructive way;
  • Able to maintain strict confidentiality of the affairs of the Firm and its clients and be flexible and able to embrace shifting demands and tight deadlines.

 

This firm is looking for a degree educated Conflicts professional who is working at Analyst, Senior Analyst level or similar and is both confident and passionate about their role.  This role will involve lots of autonomy where you will be able to take the lead on your responsibilities and be trusted to decision plus there is the platform for training and investment in to your future.  Standard hours are 9:30am to 5:30pm with a hybrid pattern of working 3 days in the office and 2 days from the office.  Candidates need to have Conflicts experience from within a law firm.
