US law firm has created a new Director of Risk & Compliance position to work alongside the COLP, MLRO, DPO and COFA reporting in to the London Managing Partner and Office of General Counsel.
This Director of Risk & Compliance position is a new role for the London office and will be responsible for providing a comprehensive risk management and compliance service to the London office.
The job holder will work alongside the Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP), Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration (COFA), the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO), the Data Protection Officer (DPO), the Training Partner and central support managers in the management of the risk and compliance function for the London office. The role is currently supported by a Risk & Compliance Attorney, Senior Consultant, Risk & Compliance Manager, and two Compliance Analysts.
The Director of Risk & Compliance will be responsible to ensure all the firm’s policies and procedures are followed at all times. Additionally the Director of Risk & Compliance will oversee all personnel within the Risk and Compliance function in London and will include the development, implementation and maintenance of compliance policies and procedures, the operational activities for AML systems and processes, conflicts matters, dealing with CDD and client onboarding and other compliance issues as and when they arise. The role is based in the London office but the job holder will also work closely with the Office of General Counsel in the US offices.
Director of Risk & Compliance applicants need to be a qualified lawyer, either from England & Wales or overseas, have law firm experience working at either Head of Director level within a Risk & Compliance function, plus be able to demonstrate both leadership and strategic abilities to really drive this ever growing and heavily invested in Risk & Compliance function forward.
